First Impressions of Honor 8C

Honor 8C Rs.11,999 is set to be launched in India this week, only six months following the initiation of the Honor 7C. Developed from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC, the newest smartphone includes AI-enhanced cameras, a notched screen, and Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. To remember, it had been launched in China a month. The Honor 8C is anticipated to be established in two versions, one with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, along with another with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. We must spend some time together with the latter version of this Honor 8C ahead of its official India launching - scheduled for November 29 - and here are our initial impressions.

  • Honor 8C design

The front part of the Honor 8C is dominated by a 6.26-inch HD+ display. The notch is rather small and may be concealed thanks to a choice from the settings. The place around the notch can be used to show the time, battery level, along with other standing icons. First-party applications are constructed to accommodate the elite. In our short time together with the Honor 8C, the screen seemed to possess sufficient brightness, very good viewing angles, and punchy colors. But, text and graphics weren't very sharp as a result of this HD+ resolution that is somewhat lackluster for a screen this size.

Users may pick from onscreen buttons or EMUI's gestures, which we discovered to be unreliable occasionally. The body of this Honor 8C is plastic and the telephone is a little too tall and wide to be used easily with one hand.

The smartphone seems strong but does not seem as a premium since a number of the other versions in the Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 cost level. The glistening plastic back brings a slew of fingerprints and leaves the phone quite slippery. Honor has attempted to replicate the colour gradient used on its own pricier glass-backed offerings but has not succeeded fully. The blue and black gradient on the rear part of our review unit seemed somewhat garish for us.

The remaining smartphone is blank save to your SIM menu, that includes two Nano-SIM slots along with a committed microSD card slot. The ideal side has the lock power button and the volume rocker, that can be modest but tactile. The only loudspeaker is located in the base, together with a Micro-USB port along with the principal mic. The secondary mike and 3.5millimeter headphone jack are set on the top. The absence of a USB Type-C interface in this day and age is quite disappointing.

We were delighted with the precision and rate of this rear-mounted fingerprint detector, and face recognition was also very eloquent. Obviously, a comprehensive assessment of those features might need to wait until the complete review.

  • Honor 8C specifications

The Honor 8C is powered with the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC using its incorporated Adreno 506 GPU, paired together with 4GB of RAM. Within our limited experience, the smartphone handled daily tasks rather nicely but struggled somewhat with intensive usage. A definitive evaluation of the operation is going to need to wait until our entire inspection when we could push the smartphone farther and operate artificial benchmarks.

The Honor 8C runs Honor's EMUI 8.2 custom skin beneath Android 8.1 Oreo. EMUI is rather fluid and fast but seems cluttered and has lots of bloatware. Facebook, Messenger, Netflix, and Camera 360 come pre-installed, Together with a Lot of first-party programs from Huawei including HiCare, Huawei Health, Themes, Honor Shop, along with Honor Club.

  • Honor 8C camera

On the imaging front, the audio 8C comes with a 13-megapixel principal rear camera using an aperture of f/1.8, along with a secondary 2-megapixel thickness sensor using an aperture of f/2.4 The smartphone may intelligently detect quite a few scenes or objects being taken and populate picture settings so. AR decals are also encouraged, and they worked quite nicely in our limited experience. On the front, the Honor 8C comes with an 8-megapixel fixed-focus camera using an aperture of f/2.0. Both front and rear cameras also comprise single-LED flashes.
